在现行高中英语教材中，原因状语通常是由介词for, at, with, of, because of等构成的介词短语和从属连词because, since, as, now that等引导的从句来说明原因。此外，原因状语还有其它一些表示法，学生在阅读过程中，往往会对句子意思产生误解。因此，笔者就平时的教学过程中遇到的原因状语的其它表示方法，归纳如下：
1. 用介词短语来表示，常见的有：thanks to, by reason of, on account of, owing to等。
We succeeded by reason of good organization. 因为组织得好，我们成功了。
I didn't come on account of the bad weather. 我因天气不好而没来。
Owing to the drought, crops are short. 因干旱，谷物欠收。
2. 用形容词及形容词短语来表示。
Curious, they looked around for other guests. 出于好奇，他们环顾了一下其余的客人。
Much interested, he agreed to give it a try. 他很感兴趣，同意试一试。
Thirsty and eager to get a little rest, he went into the tea-house. 由于口渴，又想歇一会儿，他走进了茶馆。
3. 用不定式，分词短语来表示。
We are proud to be young people of new China. 我们为是新中国的青年而感到自豪。
Being poor, he could not send his son to school. 因为贫穷，他不能送他儿子去上学。
Influenced by the hero's example, they performed countless good deeds. 在英雄事迹的影响下，他们做了无数的好事。
4. 用独立主格来表示。
There being no buses, we had to walk home. 因为没有公共汽车，我们只得步行回家。
The key having been lost, Tom could not enter the room. 因为钥匙丢了，汤姆进不了房间。
The homework finished, she went out to play. 因为作业完成了，她出去玩了。
With his food running out, the men had to come out of his hiding-place. 由于食物吃完了，那人才不得不从藏身处出来。
